About Michelle

A little about me and why I do this work.

I became a counsellor not from a textbook, but from lived experience — and a deep belief that every person deserves to be truly heard.

Michelle, person-centred counsellor

My story

There was a time in my own life when I felt completely overwhelmed — burnt out, disconnected from myself, and unsure how to find my way back. I tried to push through, to be strong, to keep going. But eventually I found my way to a counsellor who simply sat with me, listened without judgment, and helped me realise that I wasn't broken — I was human.

That experience changed everything. It showed me the profound power of being truly heard. Not fixed, not advised, not diagnosed — just heard. I trained as a person-centred counsellor because I wanted to offer that same gift to others.

I work with people who are navigating burnout, trauma, grief, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and the quiet but persistent feeling that something isn't right. Whatever brings you here, I believe you have within you the capacity to heal — and I'm here to walk alongside you as you find your way.

My philosophy

You are not a problem to be solved.

Person-centred counselling is built on three core conditions: empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence. In plain terms — I will try to truly understand your experience, I will hold you in genuine positive regard regardless of what you share, and I will show up as a real, honest human being rather than a blank professional screen.

I don't follow a script or a treatment plan. I follow you. We move at your pace, explore what matters to you, and trust that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to create the conditions in which your own natural capacity for growth and healing can emerge.

This work is deeply personal to me. I bring my whole self to every session — my warmth, my honesty, and my genuine care for the people I work with. I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is itself the healing.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

— Carl Rogers
